Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is on track for a record seventh successful year in the UK with a 12.2 per cent increase in registrations for the first six months of 2007 to 14,185 vehicles compared to 12,635 during the same period last year.

The London Fire Brigade has taken delivery of seven Volkswagen Transporters which have been converted to operate as part of the brigade’s fire investigation unit.

The Transporters successfully met all the brigade’s specifications and requirements and were ordered with Volkswagen’s five-cylinder 2.5-litre 130 PS TDI engine and Tiptronic automatic transmission, and supplied by AssetCo PLC.

Vauxhall van is a record breaker

British van manufacturing has hit another milestone, with Vauxhall’s announcement that the 500,000th Vivaro has rolled off the line.

Having caused a stir at launch in 2001 with its radical looks, the load-lugger hit the half-million mark with a red SWB panel van at General Motors’ factory in Luton, Beds. This plant produces all GM’s European-spec low-roof vans, carrying both Vaux­hall and Opel badges.

Citroen vans with free satnav and GPS during Van Fortnight

Citroen will offer Trafficmaster Smartnav satellite navigation and Trackstar GPS stolen vehicle tracking systems on all new Citroen C2 Enterprise and Berlingo vans for free during the July Citroen National Van Fortnight.

Both services will include a three-year subscription during the fortnight, which runs from 16 – 30 July 2007.
