The British Commercial Vehicle Show

The Commercial Vehicle show took place at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre this year, where visitors were faced with a wide range of light trucks and vans.

Highlights include Vauxhall’s showpiece Astravan 888 Turbo, fitted with 2.0-litre turbo engine, adapted to hammer out 239 bhp plus 239lb/ft of torque. Sadly a one-off that’s not going to be available to the public, but certainly fun to peruse at the show!

LDV Launch Proud Professionals Award

In a scheme that is sure to directly challenge the common public impression of the ‘white van man’ LDV are launching an annual awards programme to recognise light commecial van drivers who make a contribution to society. This first Award ceremony will culminate in a grand finale on the eve of next year’s British Commercial Vehicle Show.

Mercedes Sprinters Customised for the Job…

First Engineering have adopted a raft of Mercedes Sprinter vans which they have customised extensively in order to accompany workers in remote locations. Inside the roomy vehicles they have installed bathroom and toilet facilties, microwaves, fridges and extra storage too.
