Peugeot and Fame join forces
Peugeot and bodybuilder Fame Commercials have got together to create a new range of mobile police stations now being supplied to constabularies countrywide.
Peugeot’s front-wheel drive Boxer 350 chassis cab is used as the basis for the conversion. It’s fitted with a Fame geodetic chassis plus a 5m body split internally into an office and a reception area.
Features include air conditioning, a stable-type internal door with a Melaphone audio/visual window to deal with public inquiries, CCTV for added security and generators to provide power for the extensive lighting.
Hertfordshire Police have acquired six of the stations to deliver a range of services to rural and edge-of-town areas that do not have permanent police stations. “They’ve proved highly successful and we’re monitoring the programme to see if even more will be required in the future,” says head of communications, Colin Connolly.
All the chassis cabs Fame uses are being supplied through Derby dealer Pavillion Motors.
