Interserve and Integra opt for Citroen Vans
One hundred Citroëns have joined Interserve, one of the UK’s biggest facilities management companies. The line-up includes over 80 Berlingo 1.9D 600 LX vans as well as a dozen specially converted tri-axle Relay 1800 2.8HDi low floor wheelchair accessible minibuses.
With the delivery of the newcomers Interserve’s fleet now contains well over 800 Citroëns, making up more than 80 per cent of the firm’s 1,000 vehicles. The latest arrivals are needed to handle new contracts.
The Berlingos are going to work with PriDE, a recently formed joint venture business set up between Interserve Defence and Southern Electrical Contracting. It’s just won a contract to take over all building repair and maintenance activities as well as grounds maintenance for the Defence Estates — ie Ministry of Defence property — in London and the South East.
Tradesmen will use the vans to carry tools and equipment between and within sites.
The minibuses will be used on an Interserve contract with Portsmouth Social Services. All Rohill coachbuilt conversions plated for operation at up to 4.7 tonne gross, they’re fitted with rear-mounted Ricon wheelchair lifts.
A flexible internal layout allows all sorts of seating configurations. It means a minibus can, for example, transport four passengers in wheelchairs and six on conventional seats.
Supplied through Whitechapel, London dealer Citroën City, the Berlingos and Relays are being operated subject to four-year leases set up by PHH. A fleet maintenance programme organised by Overdrive provides support.
Citroën City is managing the entire fleet replacement and disposal schedule, delivering new vehicles, collecting old ones and preparing the latter for disposal at auction if required.
Elsewhere, Integra Utility Services has opted for Citroëns once again, taking delivery of 88 vans.
The order includes 70 Berlingo Enterprise 1.9D 600s, four Dispatch Enterprise 2.0HDi 900s, four medium-wheelbase high roof 2.0HDi Relay Enterprise 1500s and ten long-wheelbase high roof 2.8HDi Relay Enterprise 1800s. As a consequence most of the vehicles in the Midlands-based company’s 105-strong fleet — part of Severn Trent Metering Services — now wear Citroën badges.
Supplied through Leamington Spa dealership Murley Citroën, all the newcomers have ply-lined load areas with racking. The Relays are additionally fitted with towbars and roof-mounted beacons.
These latest acquisitions are being operated subject to 30 month, full maintenance, Vardy Contract Motoring contract hire agreements and are set to cover up to 62,500 miles apiece with Integra.
