Volkswagen To Introduce BlueMotion Caddy

Volkswagen is to expand its low-carbon dioxide (CO2) BlueMotion brand to its commercial vehicle range with the introduction of a Caddy BlueMotion, according to a WhatVan? report on 1 May.
A Caddy BlueMotion concept was shown at the recent British Commercial Vehicle Show, based on the Caddy Life, the MPV derivative. According to the report, the Caddy Bluemotion will be in production by the end of the year.
It will be powered by a re-tuned version of the 1.9TDI engine and as well as a reduction in CO2 emissions it also promises improved fuel consumption.
The current Caddy was designed as a van, rather than using the front-end of a car. It features a choice of two diesel engines, the 2.0-litre SDI normally-aspirated unit that produces 69bhp (51kW) and the 1.9-litre TDI that developes104 bhp (76kW). The engines use unit-injection rather than common rail.
Asymmetrically split rear doors give access to the 3.2 cubic metre load bay and an option of one or two sliding side doors. Payload capacity is 815kg and the ability to tow a braked trailer increases total load capacity to 1,400kg.
